ND Women Connect - Detroit
The Detroit ND Women Connect chapter is one of the four ND Women Connect founding chapters.  We initiated our local alumnae outreach effort back in November 2006 when five women who served on the Detroit alumni club’s Board of Directors looked around and asked, “Where are all of the female grads?” and thus, ND Women Connect Detroit was born. NDWC Detroit Programs
Thank you for visiting the Detroit NDWC Chapter homepage! Please feel free to explore our different programs and links to help you get connected. All of these various activities were inspired by the Alumnae Survery.
  • Monthly NDWC Detroit Newsletter - One way to help female grads feel part of the Metro Detroit ND community is to simply correspond with them regularly. In May 2007, we launched our monthly “ND Alumna Update” newsletter, which has been re-named as "ND Women Connect - Detroit." This newsletter focuses on local alumnae-oriented events and interests. Read our current issue by clicking here.
  • ND Mom's and Babies Playgroup - Another idea that developed as a result of positive reactions from about 20 of the survey respondents was an ND Moms and Babies Playgroup Network. We organized a list of the interested moms by geographic area (the Metro Detroit area is huge) and then distributed that information to the women. They then contacted each other to form local playgroups. This is an ongoing activity that any interested ND mom with infants and/or toddlers can participate in.
  • ND Ladies Happy Hours - What a surprise -- “Happy Hours” was the most checked-off item on our 2006 survey’s show-of-interest list! (Go Irish!) Since that time, we’ve hosted five social gatherings and have decided that an annual summer get-together works best in terms of time and attendance. We hold these happy hours in the homes of different alumnae, and are now averaging 40 or more attendees at each. We also invite our local female students to join us, which gives us a chance to implement a little alumna-student networking. (See our photos below.)
